To help support livestock and poultry producers, soybean farmers' number one customer, the Kentucky Soybean Board is working with animal agriculture groups statewide to help educate the public on the importance of livestock and poultry production to the state of Kentucky.
Kentucky ranks 16th in the nation for livestock sales; making the livestock and poultry industry a vital income source for Kentuckians. Animal agriculture has come under scrutiny recently and there are threats to the existence and continued growth of a safe, secure, American-grown livestock and poultry industry.
If animal agriculture was to leave the state, Kentucky would be out more than $190 million dollars in taxes that support schools, libraries, and help build and maintain roads statewide. Kentucky would also lose more than 34,000 jobs, a huge loss to the economy in the state.
